Dysport or abobotulinumtoxinA is a prescription injection approved by the FDA to smooth small, moderate, and severe frown lines or 11s between the eyebrows. Dysport does not hinder your look or movement it is only designed to relax the muscles that cause wrinkles. Dysport is similar to Botox but varies in the amount needed and the time it takes to smooth your wrinkles.
Dysport temporarily blocks the transmission of messages between nerves and muscles and stops injected facial muscles from contracting and wrinkling the overlying skin. This process of blocking muscle contractions does not harm skin or muscle, but it dramatically reduces facial expressions and frown lines, crow’s feet, forehead creases, and other wrinkles that appear. Dysport is also excellent in preventing future wrinkles by minimizing muscle movement.
Dysport is diluted more than Botox and spreads to a wider area. In some patients, Dysport may have more immediate effects than Botox.

What is the downtime with Dysport injections?
Injectors take about 10 to 20 minutes to inject Dysport and you are free to leave the clinic after the injections. There is little downtime with Dysport.
Are Dysport Injections Painful?
Most patients feel very little pain with Dysport injections. Dysport is like a small pinch in the injection sites. In addition, your injector can give you a numbing cream on the areas to be treated to provide more comfort.
How long does Dysport last?
There is evidence that Dysport last longer than other neuromodulators. Studies show that Dysport can last up to six month and then you will need follow up treatment.
Are There Risks When Using Dysport?
Every aesthetic procedure carries with it some side effects. With Dysport, there could be bleeding, bruising, redness, swelling, tenderness, and irritation at the injection site. These side effects are mild or rare.
Is Dysport Safe?
Dysport is FDA approved for the lines between your eyes and is safe when used by an experienced injector.
When will You See Results from Dysport?
It usually takes about a week for Dysport to take effect. It does depend, however, on how many Dysport units you received and where you were injected. Typical injections between the eyes takes about 50 units. The effects of Dysport do wear off in about five to six months. You will need maintenance treatments to retain your wrinkle-less look.
