Microneedling
Microneedling
Microneedling is referred to as collagen induction therapy that uses a special device – either a roller or a pen – to prick the skin with tiny, sterile needles to trigger the skin’s natural healing process and collagen production. Collagen is the natural protein that helps skin maintain structure by holding the skin cells together. Collagen begins to be less supportive as we age, and causes the skin to lose its elasticity. Loss of volume, fine lines, and wrinkles appear when collagen breaks down.
You may also have skin issues resulting from acne scarring, injuries, or sun damage. Skin concerns like fine lines, wrinkles, aging, sun-damaged skin, melasma, hyperpigmentation, acne scarring, and rough skin texture, can be treated with microneedling.
FAQs
Does microneedling hurt, and does it have downtime?
Although it does cause tiny micro-injuries to the skin, the procedure only causes minimal discomfort. This treatment is minimally invasive, pain is managed with numbing cream, and it can be performed on the face, neck, and décolleté. Microneedling is a great alternative to skin procedures that are more invasive and require more downtime.
How many treatments will I need?
Each patient’s skin condition and personal goals determine the number of needed treatments to achieve the desired result. For example, patients with moderate to severe acne scars will require more treatments than patients with early signs of aging.
What are the side effects?
Before your microneedling procedure, a topical anesthetic will be applied to make you as comfortable as possible since your safety and comfort are our top priority. After your treatment, you will have mild swelling and redness, but the side effects will subside in a few days.
Recovery time can take up to five days. A serum may be applied for added benefits after your procedure based on your individual skincare needs and at our discretion. Sun exposure and makeup application following your treatment are not recommended.
When will I see results?
Results will be seen a few days after your first treatment. Initial results will include glowing skin that has a better tone. The initial results preview the glowing and clear skin you will experience after several treatments.
What can I expect from microneedling?
The treatment is performed using a patented skinpen or a roller that creates micro-injuries in the upper level of the skin. These micro-injuries stimulate the natural healing quality of your skin. In addition, inflammation in your skin sends signals to your body to increase blood circulation and produce high levels of collagen and elastin. These reactions will dramatically improve the appearance of your skin.
